Great news for Miami-Dade Bar Association members: our building project is moving forward, and demolition has officially begun on site.
For those who have not been following our plans closely, we have spent the past several years planning a complete gut-renovation of our building, located at 123 NW 1st Avenue, right beside the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center. Built in 1966, and purchased by the Bar in 1976, the project will update all systems with the result of a co-working space for members of the Bar, complete with office suites, conference rooms, evidence lockers, and event space, along with ancillary legal support services.
Along the way, we navigated issues with our lending partner and general contractor. We’re pleased to report that University Credit Union (link) is now our lender on strong terms, and BRV Construction (link) has come on board as our new general contractor, bringing their experience and a proven track record. With both of these partnerships in place, the project is on track and progressing well.
Demolition Has Begun
We’re excited to share that interior demolition work has officially commenced. This milestone marks the true start of construction toward on our new and improved building.
Expected Completion: End of This Bar Year
Based on the updated schedule from BRV Construction, we’re targeting substantial completion by the end of this Bar year, with an estimated completion window of April to May 2027. We’ll keep members updated as work progresses.
Renewing Our Tile Campaign
With construction now underway in earnest, we’re re-launching our Tile Campaign (link) and inviting members to participate, or to increase their existing commitment. This is your opportunity to leave a lasting mark on our new home. Purchased tiles will be permanently installed in the building, forming a visible tribute to the members, firms, and friends who helped make this project possible.
Whether you’re purchasing your first tile or adding another to honor a colleague, a mentor, or your firm, every contribution helps us reach the finish line and ensures our new building reflects the strength and generosity of our legal community.
