A More Connected Florida: Modernizing Access to Court Information

As Florida continues to grow, so does the need for technology that makes government information more accessible and efficient. Our court system is no exception.

As the Clerk of the Court and Comptroller of Miami-Dade County and Treasurer of the Florida Clerks of Court and Comptrollers, I understand the importance of balancing innovation with responsibility. Florida’s Clerks serve every county and are entrusted with maintaining some of the most important records in our communities.

The launch of CaseAccess, a new optional subscription-based research service available through the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal, represents an important step forward in modernizing access to court information.

Powered by the Comprehensive Case Information System (CCIS), CaseAccess allows attorneys, legal professionals and public researchers to search case information from all 67 Florida counties through one secure, streamlined platform. With daily updates and a consistent statewide search experience, the service is designed to make research more efficient for professionals who regularly work across multiple jurisdictions, without requiring them to navigate individual county websites and separate search tools.

As your Clerk, I have a responsibility to embrace technology that improves access while remaining thoughtful about how it is implemented and sustained. CaseAccess demonstrates what can be accomplished when we approach modernization collectively and methodically.

Bringing information from all 67 counties into a consistent statewide research environment is a significant advancement, but it must be done thoughtfully, securely and sustainably. Technology should enhance access while preserving the important role Clerks play as custodians of the official court record.

The subscription model also provides a sustainable way to support the technology, security, daily updates, maintenance and customer service necessary to operate a dependable statewide platform. Subscriptions are available for $20 per month or $200 per year, providing an option for frequent professional users who benefit from expanded statewide research capabilities.

It is important to understand that CaseAccess is a research tool, not the official court record. Subscription fees support the enhanced search experience and related services; users are not purchasing ownership of public court information. Public case information remains available through existing public-access channels provided by individual Clerks. Anyone seeking the official and most current record, document or case status should continue to consult the appropriate Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s office.

This initiative is more than launching a new technology platform. It is about working together to provide a more consistent and efficient way to access court information while remaining grounded in our statutory responsibilities and commitment to the public we serve.

As Treasurer of the Florida Clerks of Court and Comptrollers, I am proud to be part of an organization committed to finding responsible ways to modernize the services we provide while protecting the integrity of the records entrusted to us.

In service,

Juan Fernandez-Barquin, Esq
Clerk of the Court and Comptroller
